Treatment for a chipped tooth depends on the location and extent of the fracture. Small fractures in the anterior region can typically be bonded with tooth colored composite. However, larger fractures may require a porcelain veneer or a crown. Fractured molars tend to need more extensive restorations due to the force that these teeth endure while chewing. If the fracture involves an entire cusp then it is likely that a full coverage crown is needed. Come in and see us as soon as possible if you’ve recently chipped or fractured your tooth.
